Have a 84 Vette, and we need to figure out:

1) How do you remove the headlight switch knob?
2) Electronic dash illumination lights not working, instruments are OK, fuse OK, other lights on that same fuse are OK.
3) How do we check the electronic dash bulbs?

Any input would be appreciated, we have a service manual, but it's not helping much
Thanks in advance.

From memory, there's a tiny pin/clip that holds the knob on. Look closely and you'll see little opening in the knob.

On my 86 I just inserted the tip of a tiny, thin blade screwdriver in the opening while pulling on the knob.

Anything like that'll work.

Jake's right, there is a little clip behind the knob. You can actually get your finger behind there on the clip then squeeze it and pull forward. It should come right off.

If all the lights are out on the digital dash and the brights indicator and turn signal lights are on all the time, it is a ground problem (very common for the digital dash). Here is a very good link that explains it.

If it is just the bulbs, you can get them out by removing the bezzel and there are four small alluminum caps over the bulbs. These can be removed and the bulbs pulled out, but be carefull when pulling them out not to break them.

Thanks guys, we'll get at it over the weekend.
Much appreciated btw.
