Hello....first off, I've been reading your site for technical help since i purchased by vette about 6 months ago; love it. I've run into a snag, and am looking for help....

Was driving the other day, when i received a random "service active handling" notice on my display - the note went off, so i figured i'd take it in this week. On monday I was parked for about 20 mins while i ran into a store, when i came out, no power - nothing at all, not even my FOB worked. I had someone come over and boost me; took a couple tries but eventually fired up. I drove it home (about 10 mins) and shut it off right away, let it sit for about an hour, and then tried again - worked fine (figuring 10 mins wouldn't be enough to charge the battery, i wanted to see if my alternator was shot). I started (and drove) the car a few more times, and then it was dead again this morning.

I know that DBS is a problem with newer C6 vettes, but i haven't heard of it with the C5 - has anyone encountered this, or have any advice??

I am going to take the battery out tonight, check for corrosion on connectors, clean them up, etc....and keep a set of boosters with me for a while

You have a connection problem!!:thumbPurdy common this week!!:boogie:boogie:boogieIt happens allot after the summer heat starts!!:thumbClean and Check All battery connections,Clean and check ALL Grounds on Chassis and Engine,Check All Positive Connections on Power Distribution center, and Last but not least Check and Clean All Fuse and Relay pins!!

PS Check them ALL,If you don't,something else will just quit working next week!!:D:D:D

Just an observation! Back in the good ole' days (1970s) I used to ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Us guys would sit around and drink beer while we tightened all the bolts that shook loose. It was just a weekly ritual!

Now that I'm an old fart and drive a Corvette, am I going to have to start a ritual of weekly sitting around drinking beer and cleaning all my ground points???

Thanks for the advice....I went out tonight and bought a new battery (the old one wasn't holding a charge at all, and i figured a new battery wouldn't hurt)...checked all connections (clean) and checked my grounds (all good) - battery seems to be holding the charge for now; guess i'll find out in the morning. Fingers crossed, but it seems to be fine...
