Are ther any products locally available for de waxing the car? Wal mart etc. If so how do you use them? Is there a chance these products will damage the paint?;help

Washing the car with Dawn dishwashing liquid or any alkaline wash will strip the wax off. Inquire the Detailing Dude on the CAC and he can give you further specific info.

I don't like using Dawn as a wash or dewaxing. It is great for removing the oils from the wax on your car but it can also strip the oils out of your plastic trim. It is quick and easy but I would rather not sacrafice the trim to save 3 or so minutes. (Dawn even says not to use Dawn on your car.)

Plus, it messes up the sequence of events:
Wash the general dirt off the car, clay the dirt that is on top of the wax, remove the wax that is on the paint, inspect the paint.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. Most PepBoys, WalMart, AutoZone or Professional Bodyshop Supply Stores carry it. It has so many uses on your car so I pretty much consider it to be a necessary tool for your detailing arsenal.

Thanks DD
All I can find in my area is a 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover product. Is this OK?

Update on dewaxing
I used the 3m wax an dadhesive remover on front half of car and washed the rear with the dawn.
I used the Meguires #7 show car glaze and followed that with a coat of Meguires #26 Yellow wax. The car looks GREAT! (and its navy blue) I could not tell a difference in the dawn or the 3m as far as dewaxing.

Notes:
Cotton pad to put on glaze and wax and MF to take it off...
:Twist

I start with Dawn, then clay bar, then use Zaino.

of course you all know that dish soap will remove oils and dry up and make your paint look old and cracked faster than just using a highquality paint cleaner

I used Dawn on my 90 last year and I have had no problem at all with it. I clayed, polished, waxed, quick detailed, IBIZed and back to blacked the entire car right after so I don't think that I did any damage to the car.

since you did all that nothing probally happened but for those who wash their car with dish soap and then just wax it they are the ones who will lose.
