Dealer says no deal...

Cheers! At the moment I'm vetteless, having sold the '07. Just got back from a meeting @ the dealer & 89x2 (Callaway). I've had an order on a '09 coupe in for about 3 wks now and decided to stick w/ that one. There was just no $ inducement for me to buy the '08 (car on the lot) as I have supplier pricing on the '09. Looks like we may be shipping the '09 to Old Lyme...I am awaiting the final numbers as we speak!

Glad we were able to hook you up. I thought 89x2 was finally spending some time back at home. Boy, he sure gets around quick!

Hard to beat GMS, used that on my last 20 (probably many more than that) purchases. I traded a 06 coupe for 08 vert, with the top up can't tell I'm not back in a coupe, except so much less noise (rumble). Maybe they added more sound material in the 09.

So what colors, options, etc.?

Many thanx to you and others on this forum who may have assisted in getting all the players on the same page!

The '09 coupe on order is Cyber Gray/Titanium 2 tone int, A6, F55, 2.73 perf axle. I love the CRM but my last 2 vettes have been Red verts and thought it was time for a change...still have time for changes as my order has not yet reached production status. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated! Was very tempted to buy the '08 CRM on the lot but it was a MN6 and traffic in this part of FL is awful. Am excited about the possibility of being part of this group.:cool

It was a pleasure to meet you today and am glad you had the chance to drive the Callaway SC580 car :lou

It was a great afternoon and I did not leave the store until 6:30pm. ...then came the rain :eek

Congrats on the 2009 :v

Judging by the time of your post, you had a long day. I enyoyed hooking up w/ you and appreciate your patience in answering my questions. Please have a safe trip back (via CA??)...sounds like you have many miles before you sleep.

I am on Big John's team as a Lurker!!!!!;LOL

My pleasure!

I stopped for the night in Gainesville. It is easy driving, in a Callaway Corvette :v

So Chris... while you're out running around the country in the Callaway, are you coming across Mississippi? If I can't buy you a cup of coffee, I can at least wave when you blow through! :L

a friend of mine went to look at a new challenger with every intention of buying one...until that is he was told that it would be $10,000 over sticker:ohnoes.....here is a guy who usually pays cash and buys all his cars at invoice..... even tho money isnt a problem for him he said there is no way in HELL he is gonna pay that kind of money for a dodge!

give it till winter, the lots will be full of em!

The Callaway Corvettes are not a Dodge. Even one as "hot" as the new Challenger.

One can order a car, or buy one of the few on dealer lots. All dealers have a demo in stock or on order along with cars for stock. But unlike one of the "Big Three" which force many cars dealers do not want, the Callaway Corvettes are built almost all to order and a great many of them sell before, or while coming off the car hauler :cool

If one is entitled to GM Supplier or GM Employee pricing, that can be negotiated off the price of the (base) car. The Callaway package is not discounted. It does not need to be. IN fact, cars that sell off of price do more damage in the long run... If one does not believe me, try to sell a two year old Corvette near the Atlantic shore in NJ ;squint:

Owned a Challenger (when it came out the first time :)), hope they are better this time around. Perhaps a remake of Vanishing Point will be out in theaters soon too.

I work at one of the 2 new Callaway dealers in Florida, and wish to respond to this thread. We were informed by management that the Callaway dealer agreement stipulated that all Callaway Corvettes were to sell for list price for the car and the package, so this is what we adhered to. We did not want put ourselves at risk for loosing the franchise. After having a customer blast me that another Callaway dealer was heavily discounting his cars, I did some investigating. I read the agreement in entirity, and can see how management thought that we were not to discount the cars due to wording of the agreement, However, discounting is allowed. I went through it with my GM, and we are all on the same page now. I would like to apologise to anyone I may have spoken to that may read this thread and say that I was not intentionally mis-informing anyone, just following what was conveyed to me. I did also find out that the dealer in question was low balling the trade, so the customer wound up with a similar deal anyway. I would also like to thank Beepster for purchasing his beautiful CRM Callaway coupe from me.:beer I sold both our 08 in stock Callaways in 1 week and am now patiently awaiting our 1st 09! As far as sales go, we went from 22 08 vettes to 8 in 1 week!!:) We do still have 7 2008 Corvettes in stock and employee pricing for everyone till Sept 2. A couple of these cars are perfect Callaway candidates, so feel free to respond.

Honesty is the best policy... thanks for fessing up!

Now that you know the policy, looks like Callaways sales are starting to move, good luck.
