Hello All,
I have been fighting a condition in my car that was preventing my torque converter clutch from operating. It would kick in and out, almost feeling like slippage when in 3rd and overdrive. I could immediately notice reduced gas milage and performance especially around town going up hill it would always seem like it was trying to engage and disengage. Another problem appeared recently with my security system not letting me start the car I have traced to the key lock, vacuum operation in my drivers door. To silence the horns, and in an attempt to quiet the relay tripping them behind the dash I was pulling fuses in and out and would up leaving the dash guages fuse out....didnt stop the relay, That was fixed buy exercising the lock with my key. Since the fuse has been left out....all of a sudden my transmission is once again shifting with all its original authority, and the TCC is working. On decellerating on the highway I get a check engine light, code 24 for the VSS. I understand the connection with no power to the speedometer triggering that code. Can anyone explain the reason my transmission operation is dependent on the dash working or not, and why it works fine with it off? Are there any other sensor signals dependent on the dash that would effect the way my ecm controls the air/fuel and transmission? Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can give....
