Distributor Cap Problems

For the last few months, I have been having a problem with the contacts on my distributor cap. I first start noticing misfiring on acceleration. If I clean the contacts with sandpaper or scrape them with a file, it runs great again. I've tried caps with brass and with aluminum contacts. The same problem happens on both. The last new cap and rotor only lasted less than a thousand miles before it started missing. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this and how to fix it? Thanks.

What Shape are Plug Wires??:bujunk!!

It's an 89 L-98, recently rebuilt with TPIS ZZ9 cam, 1.6:1 roller rockers, bigmouth manifold, large tube runners, 52mm TB, ported plenum & MAF, Level V Prom. Wires are new. The coil is an Accel Super Coil that I put on several years ago.

You might try using an OEM coil and see if the problem persists. I know the MSD coil I used last month played havoc with my tach and I learned that their not always compatible with stock distributors. just my .02 Len:what part of Georgia are you in? :w

Thanks for the heads-up, nyernga. I've been thinking of replacing the coil next to see if that is the problem. Thought maybe someone else might have had a similar experience and could enlighten me. P.S.- I'm located in SW Georgia, near Albany.
