Distributor Sheild

Hello
On a 1982 cross-fire ,can anyone tell me where the black plastic shield mounts. I just got a shield and it looks like I need to move wires just to get it in.

i know that they had one but i have never seen one mounted. most have been removed .take pics when your done.

It fit around the top of the distributor...on the rt side(pass)
the leg goes in front of the dip stick for the tranny...behind the block,
covering the distributor wires....seem to me I had to unplug the several groups of wires the get the past,on both sides.and the hood latch goes thru the rings on the top.

Actually I meant was where does it bolt on,or what holds it on.

i think it would be cool to make one for the 82s ,like they had on the mid years.

It doesn't bolt on it fits over the top of the distributor,with a 'clip' if you will towards the front of engine.

Do you have the Assembly Manual? It shows the installation.

Spark plug cable retaining ring; sounds like you need one. The ring installs on the tops of the plug boots; ignition shield clips onto the ring.

Hello

I bought a high performance distrubtor cap and the ring does not fit on it. Therefore the sheild wil not fit.
So does anyone need one?
