Do not buy an Astro Targa top!!

I think I bought mine in 2004 or 05...I'd have to check the receipts to be sure.
I got a chuckle when I was on another site and saw your post there as well...I may just copy and paste mine from here there too!

BTW, sending you a link in a PM :w

What gives?

Josh,

It seems to me that if you were the person who actually had purchased the top, then your opinion of this company's products would have had more weight or impact.

If you bought your Vette with it already, it really weakens your argument, for it could be that the previous owner may have dropped it, or perhaps even caused the surface separation in some other way.

Your , "tone", in this post comes across as someone who is really p'd-off about a product, but you were not the original product's buyer, so what gives?

I am just stating it how is coming across. Good luck brotha.

Gerry......I AM the original owner of MINE and from my personal experience the owner is SLEAZY, he uses sunstandard edging/trim, his attention to detail is POOR and downright lazy (where you can see the mounting hardware) In GENERAL: his product is poorly refurbished. He sprayed the frame then put a sticker on it that peels off the paint. So, the paint is either crummy or he didnt let it dry long enough
God only knows how long mine will really last if the quality control of his adhesive is "just as good" as his paint quality control! :w

Guys, I assure you that I have genuine interest on the topic -I am not one who entertains himself by stirring-the-pot...:nono:argue

I reread this thread, and I am getting the sense that Thompson's Targa tops manufacures as well as refurbished targa tops, correct? But it also seems that their manufactoring portion has declined inmensely, for their refurbishing portion seems to be the most active. In their eBay auction they mention that they manufacture these still...68-82 C3 ONE PIECE CORVETTE TOP ASTRO 1 ROOF sm gray:eBay Motors (item 190351332933 end time Dec-20-09 12:10:45 PST)

I agree with some of the comments that apparently, one gets what one's pay for...Has anyone one considered other roof restorations (i.e. Eckler's Roof Restoration)? Not as low priced, but perhaps better???
