Hello once again everyone!

Well, I successfully completed my alarm install the other day. Everything works and looks great. The only thing is that the alarm somehow interupts the dome light timer. So, when I shut the car off or close the door, the light stays on for about 2 secs then shuts off. If I disconnect the wire from the alarm that attaches to the white door trigger wire, it works fine again.

Any thoughts?!

Thanks!

Anyone got anything on this or any suggestions where I might be able to find the answers?!

Thanks!

2 Second Delay

What I mean is that the light only stays on for 2 seconds, not that it takes 2 seconds to turn on. I may have been confusing. So, what happens is that the light comes on as it should, but only stays on for 2 seconds as opposed to 30 seconds.

Hope that cleared it up a bit!

Thanks...

Right...well, I guess it's not...but since it has that feature, i kind of like it. For instance, when you shut the car off, the light comes on so you can see what you're doing. It actually seems like it was a feature before it's time, as now all of the luxury cars have it (dome light supervision they call it I think).

All in all, it would be nice if I could get it up and running again.

As i had said, Jeremy, my doors arent wired into the alarm, so i cant help you with this, but: My dome light is fading out after 10 seconds (i think, it's been a while since i stared at it and actually counted.. :) ).. And yes, it is tied in with the doors. Glad you got the alarm figured out, sorry cant help you with the doors.. C yA Stefan

Well, thanks for all your responses so far. I called the manufacturer, and he said he never heard anything like it. I left him my name and number...he's going to do some research and get back to me. I hope he comes up with something. (By the way, the alarm is a Viper 350HV, which is manufactured by DEI and happen to be one of the largest automotive alarm people...I should hope that they know what they're doing/talking about ya know?!)

He said that he thought that most GM's worked as follows: If you open the door from the inside and then close it, the dome light goes out immediately. However, if you enter from the outside, the dome light stays on.

That's not how mine works. Mine stays on no matter which way you enter or leave the car, and will shut off after the 30 sec or if you turn the ignition switch. Also, when shutting the ignition off, the light comes back on.

That's how they should work correct?

I'll keep you all posted as to what happens!

Well, I was told to use a relay and see if that works. Both the alarm store and Viper said they never heard of this before...but then again, I wonder how many C3 Vettes they come across. Any I was told to wire the relay as follows:

85 --> white door switch wire
86 --> +12V Constant
87 --> Ground
30 --> GReen Trigger wire on Viper alarm

I will give this a try and let everyone know how it goes!
