in the door jamb of my vette there are 2 plunger type sensors....one by the hinges seems to work the dome lights on and off when the door opens...my question is ,
what does the one by the rear wheel part of the door jamb do?

mine is broken , meaning it has been pushed in...its dangling and i dont know what im gonna do......it dont seem to have any effect when i plunge it....im thinkin of glassing the hole over and hiding it...please let me know if you can...
Thanks, Chas:w

thanks for confirming...

i dont see an easy fix...cant get to it from behind...looks like the flange is off the rivits...drilled out the rivits and dont see any way of reattaching it...looks like im gonna hide it.and now i know why i dont have a light in that socket!

that's for the "door ajar" light on the dash

Chas , before you do anything major. look in the wheel well. there should be an access panel to the area you need to reach. .

It is the door ajar switch. One located on each door. The door ajar light is on the instrument panel--center console, right hand side.

yup

thats the one...just need to install a light in it and it should be good to go.:w
Ps....Can you post a pic of your vette....just love to see 1973!

I thought that the rear switch was for the alarm. Wow. I have been thinking wrong all along. Both of my switches were broken off by the previous owner. I bought new switches when I put new harnesses in. Just got to get everything installed when it comes back from the paint shop.
