Door panal malfunction!

I swear, it wasn't on purpose! Haha, jk - had to poke the Janet fire agian. Anyhow, while i was at the bank today I noticed my door lock knob had fallen off on my drivers side door. Eh, no big deal I thought. So i just popped it back on. When I got home later i realized that my entire door panal had decided to de-screw itself. The only thing keep my door panal on was my door handle! I didn't feel like screwing with it tonight (no pun intended). Anybody have any suggestions on why/how this happened? And how to keep it from happening again? ;shrug

I'm in the process of installing power door locks and new door panels. While I'm in there I'm also inspecting and cleaning up the inner door parts. One thing I've noticed is that some of the screw holes are stripped...possibly incorrect screw size or the fact that the doors have been uninstalled and reinstalled so many times over the years the screw holes have become worn. Your screws could have simply come loose due to vibration over time or the holes are stipped. I would suggest simply checking the screws for proper fit with the door panels off. If they grab metal, reuse screw with some light thread lock. If hole is stripped, either go one size up on the screw (the bubba way) or repair screw hole.

Thanks for the info 80! But as usual this project has snowballed. I took the door panal off to fix it and decided I was going to repaint the vinyal on the door. I have had the paint sitting around for about 6 months I've just never got around to it. Which means.....I'll have to take the passenger side door panal off to repaint so the doors will match up. Which means......I'll freshen up some interior parts as well. One small thing just snowballed...... But its going to be fun!!! :D

The same darn thing happens to me. One simple project always leads to a more complicated and involved project. One of my big problems is that I always want to paint everthing I take off the car. When it's 30 degrees outside I can't paint so I have all these parts sitting around waiting for a warm day so I can paint.
