I know that this question has been asked before, but I need a step by step door panel removal as I want to replace anti rattle pads. I have the crank and lock removal tool but can't figure out how to remove them. There is no set screw. What is the trick?

Thanks for any help

I havent removed mine yet, so I am gonna wait and see what answer you get.

I'm in the same boat with you two. I need to do some window tune up stuff but have not removed the door panels yet. Somebody please help us :( :) :(

The Hanes manual describes this procedure in a fair amount of detail (p. 11-7, section 17). The "hard part" would seem to be removal of the window crank -- the clip holding it on appears from the picture to be between the crank and the door. As fate would have it, I currently have my passenger-side door panel off, repairing the outer door handle & latching mechanism, but I have electric windows, so the only handles, etc., I have to remove are the lock knob (it pried off without much trouble, snaps right back on) and the grab handle (all it has are two screws holding it on). Plus the actual inside door lever, but it's just got a retaining screw holding it on its slides, too.

Thanks Bob :) that will be a huge help. :w

here is a trick. you don't have to remove the door handle, the panel will slide forward and off, at least it did on mine. for the clip that holds the door lock knob on, i took a dentist pick, (you can pick these up at army surplus stores, they work great for taking out old o-ring seals) and bend it over to form a hook and you can hook the clip for the lock knob and pull it off. the rest is pretty simple.

now has anyone rebuilt the window regulator that has a stripped gear? they have kits available in ecklers and is considerable cheaper than a complete new unit.

thanks
