In the past I have seen reference to a dual mass flywheel. I have been searching to find what this is and have not found anything. Would someone please clue me in on this and also if my 90 has it.

Thank you
Glenn

I believe that it does but if you want ALL THE ANSWERS on the ZF 6 Spd and the hydraulic clutch system contact the ZFDOC at www.zfdoc.com. He knows all! You can email him or even call him.

If your car has the original clutch, you have a dual mass flywheel.

This is about the only image of a dual mass flywheel I could find. It's not a Corvette dual mass flywheel, but it should give you an idea of what a dual mass flywheel looks like and how it's supposed to function. :CAC

WOW ! something looking to go wrong ! I did finally find some info on it and seems the reason they use it in the corvette is because of backlash in the 6 speed transmission. Gets rid of the gear clatter from the uneven idle . Thanks for the picture Ken :)

The C4 6 speeds have the 'elastomeric' dual mass. Don't resurface one because the cutting fluid used at the machine shop will destroy the membrane and your dual mass will be loosey goosey and sound like a bucket of big bolts. I used a scotchbrite pad to knock off the little glaze on my flywheel when I replaced the clutch and all is well.
