Has anyone installed these?
My 87 has no internal mods.
What kind of gain could be expected?
What if I just installed the runners w/o the base?

Thanks

you wouldn't really gain much with out atleast a cam install. better yet a heads and cam install. your torque and RPM limit will raise up in the RPM band though. instead of falling flat on it's face at 4800 rpm you'd be able to get upto 5500 rpm pretty easy before it falls off again.you might gain 20 HP at the most. go with some other bolt on's to accomodate the base and runners like high flow cat, aftermarket mufflers, and long tube headers. this would help and would increase overall HP of the car with the base and runner setup. also get it ported and siamesed for better flow.

BTW is this Bob?

yes Mike, it's me again

I just though I'd poll the members who may have used the Edelbrock runner setup.
Unless I hear from someone whos actuall used the setup,I'll
give up on this mod.
All of the modifications have now been ordered sans the base and runners and larger injectors.
Will keep you posted Mike. Thanks so much for everything.

My 87 has a ZZ3 cam, a good valve job, balanced and blueprinted, and the OEM base and runners were port matched. With stock ignition (cap, wires and AC plugs) and factory exhaust (except for muffler elims) I can easily get 5500 RPM through the gears and 4th gear will pull to 5000RPM.

If you decide on a bigger cam, head work and headers at some point, I would suggest looking at a SuperRam instead of the Edelbrock setup. More money but will provide much better flow.

Bob don't get me wrong it is a good setup. it's just you won't see it's benefits with only the intake. cam and heads would really wake it up. there are guys running 400 hp and 500 lbs of torque with that setup with solid 11 sec passes.

with your 3.73 gears a mini ram or a super ram would really benefit your auto trans cause it could flow upto 7500 rpm with a good bottom end, heads, and valvetrain.
