Well I was glancing at the installation instructions for the Abbott Electronics Ratio Adapter I picked up to correct the speedo and odo for the 3.75 gears as well as the 275/40's on my 87. The instructions say to tap into the VSS sensor wires no more than 6 inches from the speed sensor. Uh, I'm not sure if I want this thing sitting in the tunnel where it can be affected by the elements. Anyone installed one of these? Where did you install it? I'm wondering if I can mount or put it inside and run the wires through a small hole to the sensor area?

Thanks

Toby

Well, I removed the cover of this thing and I wasn't to suprised as it is a pretty simple circuit. Was amazed me though is that there is no seal or grommets to protect the board and electronics from foreign matter such as water or oil. There is no gasket on the panel that unscrews. No gasket or grommet where the wires exit. No coating or conformal coating on the board. Just bare electronics in a box with a hole in the side. Not very well made for $150.
The main part is a PIC microcontroller that I am going to pop off the board and dump it's contents-if possible so I reload one later on if need be. On the other hand, I can reverse engineer and redesign this thing with just a little time. So I'll have a backup when this one encounters trouble!
