What do you keep in your car in the way of tools/parts?

Just to start:

3/8 drive socket set
lighted screwdriver set
vice grips
channel locks
allen wrenches
electrical and duct tapes
#12 wire, butt connectors and crimper
shop towls on a roll
Ford adjusting tool (2# hammer)

What else?

Cell phone/cash/credit card/fire exst/and knock off hammer/flash light

for my children motrin and sun block and instant ice packs and bug spray bottled water

this is all I carry if I am stuck Ill call for a tow.Ps I have never traveled more then 100 miles from home with my car when and if I make a longer trip I may pack differently but this is all I run with

Trip gear: I take a spare set of plugs, the points I replaced with Pertronix, a 1/4 drive socket set with spark plug socket adapter, a 65 watt halogen headlamp (hard to find), wiper inserts (that I replaced last), belts (that I replaced last), spare electric fuel pump, water pump (the castings crack when revved high with the A-C running), overalls, 4way screwdriver, crescent wrench, spare stop lamp and backup lamp bulbs, fuses, extinguisher, CB, flashlight, multimeter, jumper cables, jumper wire, small shop manual, wiper arm tool, door handle tool, spare air shock lines and fittings, and a tire pressure guage. I ALWAYS carry all that - not just on trips - it fits in the covered storage areas (with the jack) and inside the spare tire. The 2 pullman suitcases, fanny packs, and hiking boots take up the area behind the convertible top. The first 12 -15 trips longer than 1000 miles will make your list look like mine.

Add a fender cover, wet wipes (to clean hands), shop towels, flashlight, gasket maker in a tube and a 44 Magnum for serious persuasion :-)

I carry a small Rubbermaid plastic toolbox with wrenches, sockets, basic tools, fuses, wire, pliers, wet-naps and shop towels, small flashlight, hose clamps, etc - fits perfectly under the cover board in the storage well behind the passenger seat. Most important items are a cell phone, credit cards, and my AAA coverage with the 100-mile flatbed option. :D
