I need advice on mods for my engine. I have pulled my engine out and brought it to a machine shop. I am getting it reworked (new bearings, boring out). My
heads are bad and lifters/ push rods don't look good.

I have an 85 L98 (cast iron heads) and want to keep the car as a daily driver (just a little extra horsepower).

I am looking to buy edelbrook aluminum heads (victor jr) and crane cam (power max). I wanted to use the stock value covers. Eventhough I am using after
market parts, I still wanted to make the car look stock.

Any advice on the parts, or the direction I am going with the engine?

It's probably too late, but a GM built ZZ4 crate engine would have been my choice. By the time you buy all the other new parts, lifters, rockers, push rods, heads etc. etc. Plus your upgrading from flat tappet to roller, and then there's the reliability issue of a shop built engine. And yes the ZZ4 comes with an intake and distributor you won't need, but those can easily be sold.

Edelbrock victor jr. heads ? hope your planning on a different intake setup, cause if your sticking with the L98 configuration your wasting $$.

In order to get your moneys worth out of any combination, all your components have to be matched up properly with one another, this usually requires a complete upgrade on all your parts.
