The last time l posted this, l wasn't sure of the price and what was leaking.

Intake manifold gasket $299

Dist seal and crank seal $365

Now it is not bad and l do not have dripping's under my car and the service advisor said l had time before anything had to be done.

I know the LT1 is prone for this problem, so if and when l have this done, is there anything else that l should have done while the car is at the dealer, as far as gaskets???????

Thanks

Alan

p.s. there should have been a recall on this!!!

:bu Now go get some sleep.

BTW there should be alot of recalls. Biggest one of all should have been the optispark.:duh

No Quality Control!!!!!!!!!!!

GM has been laughing at us for years because we alway's come back for more.

Bob Lutz is our last chance at quality control. If they do not get the C6 down pat and fast, the corvette division could collapse.

I'm sure the new caddy built in Bowling Green will not leak, rattle or fall apart because there target buyer is upscale and at least 50 plus. And they are just stepping out of an import.

I got kicked out of another forum for saying this but, the Corvette is NOT a high quality car. Its a fast nice looking car ,Yes. Its a very HIGH profit car for GM its not at all close in quality to its price point even a C5. I own both C4 and C5.

GM builds cars because they make money, not because they like cars. I get tired of buying parts for my LT1 and the counter guy says something like, "For your camaro--$45; oh for your Corvette--$145." Makes you wonder.

My Grandfather taught me a game called ¨whose the A$$#0%e in this picture? ¨. It goes like this, view your situation from a disinterested bystander’s eyes and make the call.

Why go to the dealership for parts or service after the warranty expires? An independent Corvette specialist will give you better, quicker and less expensive service.

its not at all close in quality to its price point
Yes GM cuts corners because Corvettes are built to a price point, if you want your Vette QCeed to the point of a Lexus it will cost you over $100,000. You can replace lots of Opti´s and gaskets for the money you are not paying for the QC.

Of my many Vettes, the only one ever towed to the garage was the 93 after I drove 5 miles through streets flooded knee high. Chevy replaced the Opti in warranty. No questions ask, just quick, quality service. (They worked overtime to get me back on the road the same day.)

We Americans do not realize how lucky we are. We should all live in Europe for a year. Over here customer service is a joke, nothing is done right the first time, prices are high because competition is suppressed by the government, and consumer protection agencies have not evolved enough to enter the endangered species list. (Germany may be the one exception.)

True stories;
Top of the line Renault, in warranty, in France, blew head gasket. 5 weeks in regional service center for repair. Had to fly back to Budapest for work and return to France to retrieve the car after its repair. No financial compensation from Renault or the insurance Co.

4 yr. old Citroen overheating, Official Citroen service center diagnostic, ¨decay of coolant passages in block¨, ¨new engine required¨. Real problem, bad thermostat, cost of repair $12. at Midas franchised shop.

New Saab 93 TD, 3 broken valves in 35K mi. 2 Mfg. recalls. The dealer pulled the head off of a new car and stuck it on this one last week. Would you buy a new car from a dealer who might have had the motor open and still call it new?

BMW850csi, towed to dealership 17 times. I would love to tell you all about this car but I am under a ¨gag order¨ because the family one of the subsequent owners is suing big time. Let’s just say it was $83K bad.

The best way to become a millionaire in Europe is to arrive here a multi-millionaire.

So, if I do not like it here why don’t I leave? I would if I could. I was stupid and made a major investment here. Now my only intelligent choice is stay here long enough to recoup what monies I can. Anybody out there want to buy a Go-Kart track in Spain?

Borne in the USA and God willing I’ll die there.

l second the motion!!!

Yes, C4 your correct and l feel just like you do, but right now we have no choice if we want a big V8 under our hood at a reasonable price.

After owning my C4 (96LT1) since the end of Feb l have maybe used a half of a tank of gas. But that is my choice because before l take my bride and dog out for a ride, l want to make sure l work the bugs out, so that l can make it home.

The workmanship, fit and finish leaves alot to be disired, not to mention the rattles. But the vette alway's rattled, so we cannot complain.

For the price, we got what we paid for, so it's time just to enjoy a
true American sports car.

After looking back on all of the foreign cars that l've owned, Austin Healey, MGA, Triumph, the vette is a Ferrari compared to them.

l hope the C6 is a winner and l don't care if they raise the price $10,000, just give me a well made car that l can depend on without rattles.

The new caddy, might be the answer!
