Engine tick noise

I have a C5 2002 with 1500 km on it and i have problem with a tick noise from the engine. I have seen in the tech center that it may be caused by following: The O-ring seal between the oil pump screen and the oil pump may be cut, causing aeration of the oil.

How can i tell if i have this problem? Will the engine take oil? Or can it be the "Piston slap" problem? The noise is only there when the engine is cold. Is it safe to drive the car or can the engine get damaged?

HI there,
If the noise is only for the first 1-5 mins of run time, I would classify it as normal. The pistons are toleranced differently, and would definately cause some noise when cold.
You will NOT have a problem, this is simply inherant in Corvette.
I would just relax and drive.
If you suspect that the TSB is the concern, pull your dipstic after you have run the car, if there is air bubble in the oil, you may have the concern.

Hey c4c5specialist -

Just noticed on your sig that you are NOT a Corvette owner. What a surprise! Everybody around here appreciates your expertise. If I had more time I would organize a "Let's Buy c4c5specialist a Vette" benefit.

As I said, thanks for your always diplomatic and educated insight to almost every tech issue. Let us know when you get that Vette.

my donation is ready to go out.whenever there is a legal address to send to,let me know.

Thank you for the kind words.
Honestly, I have the greatest job in the world.
My customers are extremely loyal to me, and allow me to drive their cars more than is necessary.

thank you again, c4c5:hb
