When I first got my 85 Vette, I posted some questions about the exhaust. Now that I've lived with it a while and after a long road trip, my wife has determined the system on there now is just too loud for her. So.....

Looking at my system, I have two catalytic converters and two exhaust pipes under the car. The pipes feed in to smaller chamber mufflers similar to the KBD Targa style...and dual tail pipes.

I suspect I can just undo the clamps on the pipes where they make their bend toward the rear of the car and take the current system off and replace it with something different. Does that sound logical?

Note...there is no "Y" pipe, just single pipes from each catalytic conv. to the rear of the car. I suspect based on this set up, that there are after market headers on the car.

I know there are a variety of opinions out there on which system to go with...money is a factor, but not a critical one. But since it appears to be a true dual exhaust - should that factor in on the decision of which system to purchase?

I appreciate so much every one's feedback and suggestions.

I have an '85 that I am doing a muffler job on right now. IF the cats are normal/stock size and bolt on's, I would put one on the front "y" pipe, get a new rear "y" pipe (150.00), and get stock mufflers. If the cats are small, you may also have to get a stock cat! I'm getting my y pipe and mufflers through Mid America.

I like the stock muffler sound. Enough deep throatie sound for me, but then again, I'm almost 60!
