does everyone have one..?
are there different ones available from the dealership.?
do you have a nightmare story about one.?

GM dealers carry the GMPP plan. Some also carry other warranties, good and bad. The thing to remember is that the price of a GMPP is negotiable. There are some dealers that specialize in selling GMPPs at a discount over the phone and over the internet, and sell hundreds to folks that have never been in their shop. Note - In the past third party insurers have gone out of business, leaving policy holders holding the bag.

i'll be aware, thanx

I purchased mine from the dealer for my 08 - I put the max on it (zero deductible for miles and time) even tho I have never exceeded the miles limitation. My warranty is good until 2014. Have an extended warranty on the 02 that is 3rd party. Have not had to use it and it expires next year. I like warranties as they give me peace of mind. Seems like all my problems come after the warranty expires. One interesting note, I had an extended warranty on my 03 blazer. Had an oil cooler line go bad (happens to all my blazers) and the dealer quoted me $650 to repair. Then I showed him my extended warranty (which he sold me) an they fixed it and charged the warranty $350. When I asked, they said they have deals with insurance companies that reduces the amount they charge, but do not have the arrangements with the customers. In the long run, I lost money, but if it had been a major overhaul I would have come out ahead. So you have to flip the coin and decide what you want to do. I am getting too old to work on my cars other than oil changes and minor repairs, so it is worth it to me.

..
thanx barret,
i dont intend to pretend how to start working on a new corvette..
it is higher tech than the space shuttle
so , to me the longer the warranty the better
and in some cases, that is the only way to get a loner.

The best place I've found to buy a GMPP is Dennis Fitchner a Chevy dealer in Montana. I just bought one from two weeks ago for the wife's CTS and I got one from him on my 08. I don't know if he's affiliated with this site so if you want his info send me a message.

I just got a GMPP for my wife's Aura from that dealer in Montana that should be a CAC sponsor.;shrug

Is there a recomended source where someone could purchase a warranty for an older Corvette? ...C4...C5 ?

I have read so much about third party warranty companies hosing buyers, I'd be afraid to try any of them.

No matter who you get in contact with. Have your current mileage and vin # info ready.

Dennis will send you his complete list of mileage/months and prices when requesting a quote.

Third party is a bit sketchy at best.
