West Miami-Dade, Florida - Barbara Garrett was at her daughter's house celebrating Mother's Day when she received a phone call from a concerned neighbor asking if she was having her late husband's 1958 Corvette towed.

"NOOOOOO!" Barbara screamed over the phone nearly deafening her neighbor.

By the time Barbara got home from her neighbor's house, it was too late. The 1958 Corvette that was supposed to go to her grandson, was long gone, but not before it was all caught on a neighbor's video surveillance system.

The video footage shows a large flatbed truck driving toward the house, and shortly after, driving away with the 1958 Corvette on the back.

Barbara said her late husband had bought the Corvette in his early twenties and had been in the family for nearly 60 years.

The family was just starting to fix up the classic Corvette and although, it may have been valuable from a dollar perspective, the sentimental value of the car to the family was invaluable.

If anyone has any information on the theft of this 1958 Corvette, we encourage you to call the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.

I am sure ALL these stolen vettes are now the property of a new happy owner in Africa,Russia,Israel or south america. They are quickly put in a container and onto a ship. There is no other reason to steal a classic . Probably a professional ring of jewish mafia are running it. I have worked with Tampa auto theft for 16 years and this is the new trend.Besides classics ,SUVs esp Range Rover and Escalade are in great demand. There is no money in stealing and chopping classic cars. It is more lucrative and safer to quickly shove it in a container and GONE.
