Is the fan on an '85, which works perfectly when the car is on (turns on when coolant is at 225 deg shuts off at 200), supposed to stay on when the car is off, but still warm after driving?

I can't seem to find the answer to this question in the GM shop manual. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanx!

I'm curious to know the answer to this question because it happened to me yesterday.

Mine does not stay on. It shuts off when the car is shut off. I have shut the car off at 220 deg. withe the fan running and the fan always shuts off the minute I turn the key to the off position.

Mine is an '88 & the fan shuts off when the car shuts off.

Its just as well, it would be a drain on the battery if it stayed on.

My '84 fan turns off when I shut off the engine too...

Try removing the wire running to the back of the AC compressor...Looking at the back of the compressor its at 10 or 11 oclock. The switch may be bad and going to ground or you could have a bad relay.
