I'm actually amazed at the amount of BS that this whole issue of embargoed information and posting of pictures has caused.
There's also a lot of mis-information being posted on other forums about it.
The fact of the matter is this:
1. There IS an embargo on the three pics that are floating around with DigitalCorvettes watermarks on them. The pictures do not belong to that web site. They belong to GM. Those pictures are covered under the embargo and are the property of General Motors. Nobody has any right to place their own personal watermark on those photos. Just so that we are perfectly clear what pictures we are talking about, there are three. The first one is a passenger side/front quarter shot of the car in the desert. The second is a driver side/rear quarter shot of the car in the desert, and the third shot is the car being driven on a road with the roof panel removed. I am not talking about the picture of the car on the truck in San Francisco.
2. I banned Patrick from this site after he took it upon himself to publicly joke in his own forums about what it takes to get banned here. When a site owner publicly goes after another in the way he did, I consider it to be a cheap shot. I did not ban him for posting his watermarked pictures contrary to what he says. I find it interesting that he couldn't contact me privately to ask why I banned him, rather he took it upon himself to jump to conclusions and roast me in public. I guess his actions speak for the type of person he is. So be it.
3. The whole issue of first amendment rights of freedom of speech being threatened, etc....blah blah blah....has gone overboard. Again, the fact of the matter is, this site and these forums are free for everyone to use and I pay the bills to keep the site up and running. I don't really care what people talk about here, provided that the topics of discussion do not take a turn into the obscene, and that members respect one another. However, when I request that members DO NOT post pictures that are covered under a GM embargo, I expect people to understand and abide by the request. It's quite simple. If you want to **** and moan and bang your rattle on the ground that you can't speak freely, well, life sucks sometimes. Deal with it.
4. Contrary to some of the BS being posted about me signing agreements with GM, and working for GM and all that other crap...I have signed NO documents with GM. I am not a GM employee and this site is not financially supported by General Motors, Chevrolet or any of their subsidiaries. The site is owned, operated and paid for by me and only me. I gave my word that I would honor the embargo that does exist, and I will continue to insure that the information/pictures that are embargoed by GM until 12:01am on January 1, 2004 is not posted in these forums.
If another forum owner could care less about embargoes and what GM thinks about their actions, that is their business. I do the best I can to run a professional site here. Some other forum owners don't hold the same standards for their own sites. Again, that's their personal choice and it's my personal choice to run this site how I see fit. I gave my word to stick to the embargo, and I intend on keeping my word.
We will have an exclusive first look article, specs and pics on the C6 that will be released here, first, right after 12:01am on January 1, 2004.
