Finally under construction

Center Cab

Finally got the center cabinet built and in place. Just needs finishing out with the 1/4" plywood on the sides. Built completely out of 2 x 4's and plywood but it was a b*&%h cutting all the lap joints. All the wall cabinets at the home centers were only 12" deep and that wasn't gonna cut it.
Fridge, computer, stereo and air comp fit in right nice and the spots with doors will contain every thing else I had in the main garage.

All you need now is the TV and the cot.:)

13" on top of the tool box there and I have a 20" that will be hung from the ceiling in the left hand upper corner. The ceiling bracket should be in tomorrow.
That adirondack chair there is pretty dang comfortable.
Nice Vette JJS, and nice garage floor as well!

You've got everthing covered just like you have since you're project started, '68.
Thanks for the kind words about my car, but the floor belongs to the previous owner, so I can't take credit for that.....or for the car for that matter!
I'll have my garage (definite) this year, and I'm not sure now what I'm going to go with for a floor. It'll either be like the one in my avatar, or I might go with an epoxy. I was at a car show last weekend, and I liked what I saw of an epoxy that's endorsed by the people from "Two Guys Garage." I've got a lot of decisions to make, but I have a lot of time to make them.
Great job on that garage. I've followed your progress from beginning to end.
-John

Thanks John for the kind comments...
Good luck on your project, make sure to keep us informed, that way you don't get to make the mistakes we made!!

Nice job on the garage a.k.a. Corvette shrine Cee! Where'd you put the Kerbeck's posters?

Mike

Well, I won't be having my garage built after all. This past weekend my wife and I agreed to purchase the house right across the street from us. It's a bigger ranch than the one we're currently in, and it already has a garage which was built about 10 years ago. It's attached to the house and it still looks like brand new, but it needs to be insulated and finished (the garge). I might just do the floor first in something similar to the floor in my avatar.
In any event, my LT-1 has a new home this spring. It'll be nice to finally be able to drive my car whenever I want, and like someone else in here said "rainy days will be for waxing, sunny days will be for driving!"
It's been a long time coming. -John

Congrats on the new pad John.

Now you don't have to worry about permits, inspections, contractors, more inspections, other contractors, did I say inspections:W?

In the office, no space out there for nice posters like that.

Thanks again....

Ya killing me junk!
After all the time I've spent out here building this thing I think I'm gonna be living out here!
Ya know I never gave not insulating this joint a second thought and after hanging out here yesterday watching football and drinking some ice cold ones I wish I had stuck some in there. I don't know if the kid could hang!
I think I'm gonna have to incorporate some 220 and find me a good electric heater.......us Southern boys don't take to that cold crap for long!

Get you a Monitor 41 You can pick one up cheep around here!! I have one in my house,My office, and my shop!! My shop is 40x40 18 ft ceiling in one end!! and it only uses 1/2-3/4 gal a day if it down about19-20 deg. My house is a deferent Story it will use twice that, and my office don't use squat!! My office and shop are well insulated!!
:upthumbs junk

Thanks Chuck....actually it's not too bad if you close the garage door and turn on the little electric heaters.

I have yet to see the impact on my taxes....I don't think the tax assessor has been out yet. It will be interesting to see how much they bump it up. If it gets a little out of hand I will bust out the bag o' receipts and let 'em know how much it really was. I'll be doing comps in the neighborhood as well.

Have a good weekend!

Cee

Sheetrock done and painting mostly complete.....
Wireless internet works pretty good out there too!

Very Nice and you must be proud of it. The wearther turned cold here in early October and expect to tackle the interior, with no heat inside and the average temp being in the mid 20's most of the winter not much was done.

The only thing that was successful was fighting the assessment increase, not a total win but it is now within the ballpark. Used the basis of similiar property (sq. ft. & acrerage ) within the town then compared to the value of homes with a 2 mile radius. We won the arbitration and the assessment was lowered $10,000.

Congratulations on a great looking garage.

Chuck
