I am repainting my 86 Vette. I need to remove the fog lamp assemblies so that I can sand around them. What is the removal procedure for this? Thanks in advance

I have not performed this work, but from what I understand, the entire front bumper cover must be removed.

By the way Vetter, if it'd been easy, I would've done it already. I want to clean my plastic lenses and the reflective backing in the worst way. :L

_ken :w

Do the fog lamps contain a blub or does the whole Assy. have to be replaced? The reason I ask is because mine don't work?
thanks

The buld comes out seperate.
Let me save you much grief.
I also have a 94 and did mine and the hard part was trying to get at those little buggers.
Look under the front bumper cover for 2 little trap doors.
Remove the screw holding them closed and you can just get inside to change the bulb.
I tried like he11 to get at them from the top before I figured it out !! :Silly

Your bulbs are out, in the early ones you can get to them from inside the bay, in the later model you have trap doors underneath the front bumper that lets you have access.

I believe one was a 2057NA (amber) and the upgrade for the clears is 885.

Thanks guys you just saved me a whole bunch of grief and alot of cursing...........thanks again!!!

:beer Here's to ya!!

Man your right, those trap doors make it a snap to remove/replace the fog lamps, by the way I would like to replace them with High Intensity white lamps any suggestions on what bulbs and where to get them?
thanks

I checked that bulb and it's not a 2057NA, well let me put it to you this way, the bulb I took out looks nothing like the 2057NA.
Just thought I would throw that out.........thanks again for the help

I don't recall the bulb I used off hand??
If you do a search you could find the info here someplace. This is where I found some of the info. Just went to Autozone and looked my car up and they had the right ones on the shelf.

I do have to say I didn't see any improvement?? I think mine went from 35W to 50-55W and I still find them useless. Might just be me??

Your probably right, I think they pretty much are useless LOL
my son has them on his 99 Xtreme and I can't notice any real difference when I drive it but, what the heck,
That was one of the reasons I was wondering if there is a really White Super-High Intensity bulb you can buy that just might make a little difference....
thanks for the input
