For many Corvette owners, there's a story behind the car

Fifteen years after selling his 1981 Chevrolet Corvette, Steve Groteboer couldn't shake the memory of the classic muscle car he originally bought as a 20-year-old.

For members of Rochester Area Corvette Enthusiasts, cars are more than just engines, molded fiberglass and tires.

The group of about 140 local Corvette connoisseurs held its annual member birthday party on Saturday. They have been gathering since 2004.

For Steve Groteboer and his wife, Bev, a white 1981 Corvette recalls years past.
