Freeland Corvette owner gears up for Saginaw's Old Town Motorfest

FREELAND, MI — Matt Rodriguez's 1981 Corvette shimmers in the sunlight, it's pearl white paint reflecting the front yard of his Freeland home.
He speaks of the car with affection in his voice.
"It didn't look like that when I got it, it was kind of messed up," he says, noting the car probably sat for a long time before he bought it, overhauled the engine and refinished the paint and interior.
"The 1981 is not a collector per se, but it's the last year corvettes were made in St. Louis," he said. "The stingray body style is the best body style that Corvette came out with."
