Hi

I saw something real neat in the Mid America catalog and l was wondering if anybody has bought them and is happy with it.

It's an accent strip color coded that appears to be almost an inch wide and runs from the back to the front of the directional lens.

The last time l bought something with double sided glue was my hood seal and it didn't such a good job of sticking.

I was concerned about losing one or both of them at high speed !!

Alan,
I'm not sure I'm understanding the product you're describing. Do you have a link from the Mid-America site you can post?

I think he's talking about the one's in this link. I like 'em too. Been thinking about it...

Hey Alan, next time you get something with the peel and stick tape you should remove the supplied tape. Replace it with 3M Trim Adhesive. Clean the piece well with adhesive remover then alcohol. Dry well then heat the trim piece and apply the tape. Next heat the part you will be applying the trim peice to and then heat the adhesive. Line it up (it will stick hard, no adjustments) then press firmly.

Well, for $40, it looks like a nice little detail to add on. But to answer Alan's original question, I can't speak for how well the peal and stick adhesive works.

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? ;shrug

Usually if you prep the area where it sticks on really well you have a better chance of it staying. Hose the area down really well with denatured alcohol.

That's it !!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think? It looks neat if it would only stay on! Driving at high speeds could cause them to fly off, that's why l asked.

But l would want the option to take them off when l sell.

Eric how's the Blackwing?? Do you feel the difference?

The car does feel a little peppier at launch but I've only driven about ten miles with it. That will change in about 6.5 hours when I leave for BG.

Got mine from Eklers. If you prep the area right they stay on. I love the subtle trim enhancement

Ok l will order a set in the morning ! I wonder how much horsepower it will add?

It seems that everything Mid-America sells adds horsepower.\\

165 mph, not bad !!!!!!!

I hope that wasn't on the Staten Island Expressway?

How did you get them on straight and how did you prepare the len's before you put them on?

I finally cleaned my blackwing today and it's drying and then tomorrow l will oil the filter.

So you decided to keep your C5?

Go to www.pontiacation.com and click on the link in the lower right "160 plus in a C5", Korean war Vetrans Highway. Didnt start out as a full speed blast, and the camra mount was loose.

I cleaned the lenses with rubbing alcohol and just really eyeballed the rear edges of the accents bars and where they would just about touch the fender.

Yeah the C5 is still around, cant say I was really aggressivly marketing it.

That was neat !!!!!!!!!!!

The music sounded like a video game l used to play (car racing game).

165mph on the street or highway is really mind blowing. The road that you were on didn't look that level or in good condition.

The last time and only time that l was up at that speed was on an oval and it was as flat as flat can be except it was banked a little on the turns.

I'm sure that in your C5 it felt twice as fast. By the way l was in a 67 coupe that was set up for it.

Did you feel the air coming in underneath and the steering becoming lighter. Back then if we did that with a stock vette it would be a pure disaster with the wind turbulence. In fact at 120mph it would start if not earlier.

Where did you do it?

Alan

Actually the road was pretty smooth, the camera was jumping because it was not secured down to the car, it was mounted on a heavy block of composite decking material and just sitting in the rear hatch area, also it was zoomed in on the speedometer so any shaking looks many times worse than it really is.

That was on a strech of road leading to the Outerbridge crossing. The C5 will go 160 so easy that its alomst anti-climatic. The front end doesnt lift or any light feeling in the steering wheel. After a blast like that you get the impression of "Whats the big deal?" Nothing to it.

The music was "Flritin with dissaster" by Moly Hatchet.
