In the process of stripping the car for a paint job, need info on the front emblem (between the headlight cans) . How is this emblem attached to the body? Is it a double sided tape, thru the body with studs like the one on the gas lid or what? After reading of all the problems finding a new emblem, can not afford to destroy this one. HELP !

tape

Don't you love taping on a $50+ emblem on. Thats why mine is still sitting on the shelf at home. I can't take taping $50 to the hood.

3M has an adhesive that I have used on the emblems on my wifes '67 Camaro and we haven't had a single problem with them. I can't remember the name of the stuff right now but I will be at the place I purchased it later today, if the name of it isn't posted by then I'll update you.

Update on the front nose emblem removal-
Done deal !!!
Used a one sided razor blade to cut away at the double-sided tape. Then used a sharp putty knife to get deeper, and 1-2-presto! off she popped.
Thanks for the insight from all the good people here on this site. Mike J.
(man, I hate sanding a car. somebody HELP ME )

Drum roll please....the name of the 3M adhesive is "3M Emblem Adhesive". OK not really a great surprise.
