Has anybody have knowledge of how to take off the speaker covers on the dash , i want to change my speakers, i have a simple blaupauk stereo but the speakers are cracking, what brand should i get that has some bass in them?

Thanks, RICK

Hello Rick,

Putting some serious hours into your 81 ;) Nice to hear you're beginning to like it as it is. As for the front speakergrills, you have to gently bend the grill in the middle (to flip it up so to say). The grill has some minor extensions on the left and right side so it "hooks" into the dash. You just need to bend it a little so on one side the grill pops out of the dash. Do this gentle, when you do this a xx number of time with disregard to the dash, the dash will turn upward where the extension of the grill will pop out. I hope i make any sense. Just try it its very easy :)

Groeten Peter.

:w Rick,

The front speaker covers fit into the opening via 4 little tabs, 2 on each side, left/right. To remove the cover use a small screw driver and pry the cover to one side or the other and lift gently. The cover will slide from right to left or left to right and then flex enough to clear the little tabs ;)

Yes you make sense , i see the extensions on both sides, you say start in the middle and work it to one side to pop out the extension?
