Question: Fuel filter to carb metal line replacement

Anyone know off hand what size that rubber piece is by chance? I think Im going to stop at the parts store on the way home tonight and I wont get a chance to check its size or remove it to take with me. I think IM going to buy a replacement rubber, just in case.

This is the filter:

Corvette Gas Filter, GF432, 1968-1969

IIRC that nipple is 1/4". The only other option would be that it's 5/16", but I'm thinking 1/4" is correct. Make sure you get hose that's fuel compatible, and you'll only need 2 or 3 inches.

Anyone know if it is factory and why GM would use a rubber hose to connect this line and not the one next to it? Seems like a weak link.

thanks

Yes, it's factory. The pump-to-carb line is under pressure, and uses SAE inverted flare fittings on a steel line, per normal design practice. The smaller line (with the rubber hose and clamp connection) isn't under pressure, and is primarily a fuel vapor return line.
