C3-coupe/MercedesBenz-540K replica! Racing-SB-V8!
Here's a "click on" for you that is an Ebay-auction of a '78-Corvette L82 said showroom with only some 370-miles!!! Over a dozen xlnt.-photos, so here's your chance to check-out detail authenticity you've wondered about.... enjoy(auction has a sea of sharks-biting hard, and another week to go, --so don't know if this link will still find the auction after that)! -B.B.

He has got to be dreaming, but some fool with too much money will come along and buy it. It seems that the majority of the 78 pace cars were bought and stored away. You see very low mile ones for sale all the time. I think the rare 78 pace car would be a high mileage one :D

tom...

Yeah, but look at the seller's rating: -1
Didn't know that was possible!

Many of these types of ebay auctions end up with the deal falling through.

I would be very very cautious with this sale.

And in case you guys didnt catch it.. check this out..

The only word you need to see is NEW!. This car is fully documented and has been sheltered everyday of it’s life. Have no doubt! It is what I say it is

Key word -------> NEW <---------

and when you read further down you get this

true condition of this restored classic

Key words -------> restored classic <---------

So to me what we have here is a 78SA that was wrecked shortly after purchase 371 miles to be exact, and you get this guy that comes along finds it sitting and slowly fadding away, buys the salvage title on the car, restores it with either NOS or new, calls its new and walla crank up the price.

Now I could be wrong but I think I've seen enough used car dealers to know something is wrong with this picture.

It is certainly a nice car. But, Tom73 is right about many low-mile pace cars being out there. Just look at any issue of Hemmings Motor News to see. Most low-mile cars (under 1000mi) go for the neighborhood of 25k that I have seen. This guy also has just about all of the documents that go with the car too.

The VIN checks out as a PC VIN. They had a different VIN sequence from the regular 78s, a 9 after S the for the PCs and a 4 for the rest.

I also agree that 35k is a bit high for this car, but the real value of the car is what the buyer thinks it is worth.

As far as the "restored classic" bit, I'm guessing he uses a canned description with a few additions to the particular car when he sells cars on eBay and just missed the wording.

My PC has more than 125k miles, but it is tired and in need of a restoration, major cosmetic work, minor mechanical work.

I would like to see the 78 PC that is in the basement of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum! That would be the real way to restore a 78 PC.

The "restored" has been changed to "original" now.

:confused

For that money, I'd buy a c4 flop top and a c-3 flop top.

Catch this! The same guy made the last 9 bids all in the space of 10 min. And imagine, he has bid up to $35000. Sure makes you wonder. :nono

-interesting.... it seems that most of you are fickle and would dump your C3 for a C5 if you only had the budget; --however, I feel you are somewhat missing the mentality of the bidders, they are buyers apparently able to afford a C5 but want a near-new C3 because that's the car they like! Seems it has little to do with being stupid, and more to do with spending one's money on something they are emotionally turned-on to.... B.B.
:argue :dance
