How many of you keep your car not only in a garage, but also under a car cover as well? I keep my black LT4 vert under TWO car covers in the garage. Why? The answer is @#$%! cats! Cats love to sit on cars, walk on cars, and look out the window from the car. They leave dirty little paw prints, hair and SCRATCHES! Especially on a black car. If I kill the cats I die, so I have two covers and its a pain in the butt twice a day. I have come up with idea to solve this without building another garage that I'd like your thoughts on (or maybe a better idea).
My idea is to build a frame of PVC pipe that goes all the way around the car but is hinged in the middle on the sides so that the back half can be flipped over the top on lays on the front half (gotta watch the ceiling height here). The front half will also have a PVC hoop about 5 ft tall and 5 ft back from the front so that it can fold down flat, and the back half will have another 5 ft hoop installed the same way. Now, the whole back half with hoop can be flipped over the car and lay flat. This frame is sort of like a bimini top for a boat. I propose to cover this framework some type of breathable material and attach it via sewn in tubes to go around the PVC. The PVC joints are tight enough I'm not sure they even need to be glued. I further intend to clamp the front half to the floor. Sooooo, you flip the back half over where it lays directly on top of the front half. Jump in and back out, and reverse the process when you come home. What say you?
