Gas pedal replacement

After i put in new carpet i decided to change the pedals also....the brake pad was a cinch... the gas pedal looks like it has some kind of pin holding it on...not just a cover but it is an actual pedal...i can't see it from the front....i need to know if anyone here has changed it , and if so can you help me out with a suggestion as to the removal of the thing.
