General waxing and cleaning questions, Corsa

So here it is. I suspect the dealer detailed my car before I got it so I can't see an 8 hour clay bar "experience" just yet. Its only been rained on one day and its clean now. What are your opinions on just a good cleaning and a wax or polish? I bought MOTHER'S 3 in 1 with a spray bottle of "in between wax jobs"stuff, clay bar and a wax. Should I have big ole water beads or little ones. I forgot. One more thing I want cruising sound quiet so you can talk and listen to radio,etc. I do enjoy the sound when starting to move. Is the CORSA Touring the one to shoot for? Oh yes I thought polish was the way to go because of the grit in wax.

Clay bar is a very easy thing to do and the results are outstanding! After clay bar I use Meguires Show Car Glaze #7 then follow it up with Meguires NXT. Between wax jobs I use Quik Detailer!

I am all for a good cleaning and a wax. . Meguires cleaner wax works good. I also like Malms Liquid Carnauba.

Oh yes I thought polish was the way to go because of the grit in wax.

Polish could contain abrasives - wax generally will not (some cleaner waxes might contain abrasive polish)

We have Corsa Touring Exhaust on our C5, It sounds throaty when ya get on it and they are quite for the cruise.

I agree witgh 6shooter here. I used Meguir's NXT on my Torch Red, and with only one coat the color really "popped"! Easiest stuff I ever used on a car.

As for claying the car. It's an '04, basically a year old. The paint shouldn't be gritty at all, I would imagine. Mine is an '03 and no gritty feeling to the paint yet. I'd hold off on claying.

just clayed my 04 vert w/4,000 miles. not much grit on paint BUT is does make a big difference, in my opinion. followed by meg's NXT. the NXT is the easiest wax and it has a "liquid" shine. in my experience NXT doesn't last a super long time but the results are so good and easy to obtain.... i just apply a little more often. good luck!!

When you detail the car be sure to use one of the "ultra" synthetic cloths with a very light coat of detail spray....makes the paint and the shine "pop" on my light pewter.
also.......as to exhaust.........go to a web site where you can listen to the exhaust sounds. Why would you want to go with the Corsa touring and pay $1000 for something that is only as loud as the stock system? Go with the Corsa Indy and get the bassani X-pipe at the same time. Excellent sound that is full and throaty at WOT and completely quiet at cruise on the freeway.

Have been using Formula 113 easy to use and a great shine, go for the Corsa Pace Car quiet at cruise and graet at WOT

I haven't heard any stock C5 LS1 exhaust sound as good as Corsa Touring!

If you are satisfied with the Mothers 3-step (is that what you meant by 3 in 1? Or you mean a cleaner/wax?), you should go with it. They certainly make good products. If you find something you don't like about it, then look for a new product that addresses the thing you don't like. Otherwise, there are a million nice products out there you could try that you may or may not like any different than what you have now.

On carnauba products, beads should usually be small and tight. But really, however it beads when fresh, this is how you want it to bead as it implies the wax is still fresh. Enjoy cleaning your baby!
