I notice that my new C-1 has lubrication cups fore and aft on the generator. Going with the theory that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask I'd like to know if these are for motor oil or what?? How much do you add?? Also, are there any more of these little cups hiding anywhere else on the car?? I'm just getting over the shock of finding ball bearings in the front drums when I did the breaks and now this. :D

Terry,
I just use a light machine oil (kind of like sewing maching oil) in mine. Doest not take much.

By the way, does anyone know where to get replacement "lubrication cups" for the generator, my rear one is missing.

tom...

HA!!!! Wait till you start locating all of the Zerk fittings under the car on the front suspension!!!! Someone at GM must have been getting kick-backs from the Zerk supplier. ;LOL

Terry,

Most C1 generators have been rebuilt and all rebuilders have used sealed bearings for over 2o years now. This makes the oiler cups purely decoration at this point since the oil cannot get into the bearings on a sealed bearing. These are very inexpensive bearings at any bearing supply house, and using sealed bearings assures a long life for your generator without any oil running out of the front and rear end frames.

That's good news John. Thanks for the insight!
