I have tried 3M and this spray adhesive I got from an auto upholstery shop and all have failed to keep the carpet on the seat back.

What works???

Thanks,

Lanny- I used regular old contact glue- the name escapes me, but it came from wally-world in a can and i brushed it on. I know you can get it at any hardware store, it's about $5 a can. So far its worked well, just make sure the seat surface is clean.

I borrowed some Mil-Spec two-part epoxy from work. It's on there for life now. However, I good brush on carpet glue from Michael's Arts and Crafts of a similar store should work too, especially if you want to remove it again one day.

I used the 3M spay adhesive for this and it worked great. Ofcourse I had to clean the old stuff off, then spray the carpet and the seat back, wait a couple of min for it to get tacky, then stick them together. I can't pull it apart now.

When I used the 3M spray adhesive I cleaned the seat backs, (actually I had sanded it as I had repainted the seats) so there was no old glue there whatsoever.

I sprayed adhesive on both the carpet and the seat back, waited til tacky and then applied. Sound familar? But after a year of sitting in the garage, the carpet began to lift and a few weeks ago I just pulled it off with no problem.

I think the problem was the carpet backing...I did not clean it, it was new, maybe something on them.

Oh well, guess I will try again.

Thanks,
Lanny

Lanny,

Maybe this is NOT new to you or anyone else, but I had used other 3M glue products, and the only one that worked for me was 3M High Strenght 90.
