alan, king of the hill? Back in , say, 1967 there were many flavors of Corvettes being sold. You could get the 435hp and be king of the hill. Or you could get a 400hp, I believe there was a 390 hp 429 with a single 4 barrel, then there were the smallblock flavors. So here's the concept for you during this history lesson: You don't have to be king of the hill to enjoy your car. The absolute best times of my life in performance cars have been spent at dusk or after dark driving back rural roads alone. Me and the car. Nobody to be better than, nobody to race, nobody to look down on because they only had the small block while "I" had the tripower, and NO women admiring me or my car!!!!!!!!!! The guy in the smallblock had his AC on while the 435 guy sweltered in a car with too much engine and not enough radiator. GM suckered us....oh I get, your post was a joke, you're kidding! OK that's better I take back my comments. I expect the owners of new Z06's will be friendly toward those of us driving the fastest base model vette ever produced and we'll be friendly in return. Another bit of advice: you should try being satisfied with what you have especially if , like a nice Corvette, it is a material possession that 99% of people who want it can't have it. Last lesson: The mere existence of the new 500 hp Z06 will lend tremendous additional status to your 400hp C6. Think about it. The C6 platform is strong enough and good enough to take 500hp with few mods. What does that say about every C6 on the road? It says they are all TREMENDOUS cars who now will have a stronger older brother to look up to and respect. Thanks GM....it's about time after all these years of waiting , that you are treating the OLDGOAT to the pride he felt back when NOTHING TOUCHED THE VETTE. THAT DAY IS HERE AGAIN. I won't personally own a Z06 but I can be proud of it just the same. So there. ps...what was the "waste of money" ....new C6's? Probably one of the best performance cars ever produced considering what you get and what you pay.
