After reading the article on the 2004 CTS-V, I came to this conclusion. This new Caddy pocket rocket will get the Cprvette LS6 engine, and produce 400 HP. All of the intial ratings for the C6 LS2, are calling for 400 HP as speculation for the base engine. I believe that there is no way that the only true american sports car is going to settle for an equal horsepower rating as a four door 50K Cadillac sedan. I still can't understand why the LS6 wasn't put into the XLR and a modified version of the Northstar put into the CTS. THerefore I have to believe that GM is going to have at least 425 HP as the base engine for the new C6. What do yah think????

With the XLR having corvette chassis..putting a DOHC V8 helped differiate it from Corvette and give it some snob appeal to those people who believe that technology is superior to OHC...

I believe the LS6 was chosen for the CTS V series because its inexpensive comparatively to the northstar and it fit in the engine back..

Northstar is a big tall motor due to the much heralded DOHC..

I'd rather have the CTS at 50 grand with the more powerful LS6..

As far as the c6..rumors run 380 hp to 425..Hard to tell till January at the detroit show when it will be released.

The C6 will be over 400 HP for sure.

This past weekend I was talking to the owner of a local Chevy dealship. He and about 200 other dealers throughout the country were recently invited to a preview showing of the new C6. GM trucked the C6 in, did the showing, boxed it up, and then immediately sent it back home - wherever home may be. Obviously, no cameras were allowed.

He's seen it first hand and said that GM did a great job comouflaging the cars we've all seen in various spyshots. Other than the frame the C6 is a completely different car than the Cadillac XLR. In comparison to the C5 it has a higher body line which makes the car look closer to the ground than it actually is. He also said that the C6 will be have 435HP and one year later GM will roll out the Z06 version with over 500HP. That was about the extent of technical details that GM disclosed to these dealers.

I guess take this information with a grain of salt...
