Does anyone have any information on coverting the old style headlamps on my 92 to H.I.D. headlamps? I was also wondering if any company makes different lens for the factory foglamps. The existing ones diffuse the light so much they are about useless....

Finzzs up :pat

Nyernga (Len) will get back to you soon on this one; he's done it and loves 'em. :cool

Yes also interested on this one....

Parrot you beat me on this one...I was just about to post the same question

Do a search on Daniel Sterns lighting. He sells CIBE lamps and a relay kit for overwatt 100/130 bulbs. When you put these in you will SEE at night!!
Total cost was under $200 with wiring and lamps. If you drive at night on an interstate it's the best money you can spend.
I've got light equal to any arc-discharge lamps I've seen. Besides my light is white not bluish that is really less effective.

I added the 100/130 bulbs with the plastic housings to mine, and gave my second set to NYERNGA....cost was about 55.00 off of ebay. Then added the 55 watt fog lamps...
Go ahead hit me with the bright lights.....these puppies will blind ya....light up the road great.

Hey, you did upgrade your wiring when you put in those 100/130 bulbs didn't you.
I put a clamp on meter on mine and they pull almost 18amps on low beam. The dimmer switch and headlight switch won't like that much current.

Sylvania makes some HID powered rectangular sealed beams that might fit. The only problem is getting the high-voltagle cable throught the hollow hinge pin in the pop-up housing. The people there weren't so considerate of C4 owners.

I am running RayBrig headlights. Very, very bright. The optics on these things are wonderful. The lens is plastic (very light weight lens/housing). The bucket had to be modified a little to take them as they were just a touch longer than the factory ones. They cost me $150 with bulbs. The light is white, not blue. However, they are H4 replaceable bulbs, so if you want to change the color, you can.

I would like to compare them to the Hella's. I have heard good things about them.

PLEASE CHECK the lights you buy off E-Bay. The first time I tried this conversion, i bought some lights off ebay that were supposed to be bright and came with high power bulbs. They had bad optics, and were glass (heavy). They diffused light so much that they were not much better than stock. They looked cool, but did not work very well. Spend the extra $$ and get good lights.

oops... forgot to mention that I have seen HID conversions for our fog lights. I don't know of anyone using them though. I think Sylvania has them.

I used to use my foglights for the additional light, though minimal. Now, I can not even tell if they are on. The headlights work that well.

combined with the brighter fog lamps EVERYBODY see's me now and my night vision is much improved.

Night vision?

I guess, now the women in Ga. are somewhat safer.....

;LOL ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

Hey Len,

where did you get the diamond cut lenses at?

I have a set of Diamond Cut lights. They suck. That was my first attempt. The ones made in Taiwan are not that good. Just be careful. Get German or Japanese lights. They have better optics (focus of the light).

If someone just wants looks, and not really worried too much about the light, email me. I will mail you the Taiwan lights. Like I said, the "look" great, but don't work much better than stock, even with the over rated bulbs (100 or 130 watt).

Just want to make sure that others don't make the same mistakes I did.

I bought mine off of EBAY...plastic lenses with HIB bulbs 100/130.
They messed up and sent me 2 sets. Len has done some horse trading with me and I gave him the other set. Due to the rubber piece on the back of the bulbs it was necessary to elongate the hole at the rear of the housing. But once done I am very pleased with how they operate. I don't think I have ever had to use the high beams due to the intensity of the low beams....

Too bad those are not real high intensity discharge headlamps, those are only high powered halogen headlamps. They should be brighter, but they may cause a lot of glare because the headlamps are intended to use only 55/65 watt bulbs.

I am sure you mean well...but you are wrong....they are HIB bulbs and there is no glare. And if you would bother to read the post you would see that the housing was changed from glass to plastic diamond cut specifically for the High Intensity BLUE bulbs that came with the set. Maybe you should come sit in my car at night then see for yourself before you start spouting off on how wrong I am....

This is address to find out about the lights I installed.
They made a big difference!
Put in the CIBE lamps 100/130 bulbs relay kit and upgraded wiring. I have at least as much light as any HID on the road.
Plus the way the lens are cut they don't shine light up in the air to reflect off rain a major benefit.

This thread started out talking about high intensity discharge headlamps. It evolved into talking about high intensity blue halogen headlamps. Poor Parrot did not want halogen headlamps. I hope he has not been confused by some of you.

I feel somewhat assured that he, like most of us, will read each post in the thread....and understand the content as well as ascertain the difference.
