I own an 86 with 21.8K miles on it. Lately it has been taking a long time to start after sitting overnight. I replaced the fuel filter, which when dumped out had a nasty looking brown gas. My guess is all the sediments in the filter??? After replacing the filter it idled and ran better. I checked the fuel pressure 30 lbs before it started and it was 37 lbs after starting at idle, spec’s said 34 to 39 was okay. It started okay when it was warm. The next day it still was taking a long time to start. Today I bought a bottle of injector cleaner and added it to a full tank. The one thing I noticed was it would have some back firing when you let off the gas and coasted for a while. I was going around a traffic circle tonight when it acted like it had run out of gas and stopped running. I coasted to a stop, it started right up, and the “service engine soon” light came on and stayed on. How do you check the computer codes to find out what the problem might be? What could the injector cleaner have done? I told the guy at Checkers that to make sure the cleaner wouldn’t hurt the injector seals.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks, great link. It is code 34, "mass air flow" circuit. The hunt continues..........
