Hard Top Storage

i live in australia were tempos get up around 45 degrees in summer and 6 below in winter, mine is a 71 hard top and it just rests up along side the wall with carpet underneith, been there for 12years now with no warping,i had it on the car about 6 months ago and it fitted nice still, but i dont like to use it that much as i think they can damage the paint were they sit on the rear deck.but i did notice the hood liner hs come away just a little at the rear window, this may be the area people are saying that is the problem?any way hope it works out for you.

I can't recommend sitting a '68 hardtop on it's rear points for storage, even if you set it on a pad. The reason the chrome tips were added was because the bare fiberglass tips of '68 were so easily damaged. When I had a '58 top I set it on the floor on a pad on the windshield header and had a block of shipping foam taped to the rear mounting tabs to suspend the rear w/strip away from the wall. If you leave the w/strip compressed in an abnormal position for a long time it will stay that way.

mine is a 71 hard top,but it does not have the chrome tips attached, but i can tell you not a mark ,sratch, dent,or blemish has been made to the bottom section that rests on the carpet, for the top i rest a piece of cloth between the wall and the header,to easy the only problem i get is dust,so every couple of months i wash it on the car ,chamio it off and put it back.
