Hardtop/soft Top Pins

Is there a reason that you can't use the same pins that are used on the rear of your soft top to hold down the rear of the hard top?
Everything that I read shows tha hard top bolted down.

I suppose if someone really wanted to they could figure out a way to use the pins as a hold-down for a hard top but it would take some thinking and probably a torch. The hardtops are bolted down simply because in theory they are a more permanent fixture than a soft top. I suppose the weight probably has something to do with it as well which would also explain the fact that you need three bolts for a hard top and only two pins for a soft one.

Sorry Jerry, I forgot about the two lower latches that are used on both tops - the ones that attach just behind the seats near the softop mounting harware. Many owners never even use them (including me) but that does make the total 5.
