Moonunit51 and Ken, this is aimed mostly at you...

Anyone who's running headers, how or where did you attach the alternator bracket? The one that comes off the back and (formerly) went to the bolt behind the #1 exhaust port? My headers use the short bolts instead of the factory ones and I was able to jury-rig something for the AC compressor on the passenger side by using an old long stud stopped by a nut where the threads end. However, I don't have clearance on the driver's side for this.

Thanks.

Rich, I just eliminated all that stuff and have had no problems.

Did you get it running?

Nope, not running yet, but haven't had a chance to try again.

Thanks for the pix. I've got those same wire looms waiting to go on... I was worried about the alternator bracket flexing enough to slip the belt...

Ooh, I like that idler bracket Colin! :cool

I don't have a much better picture either Rich, and for the life of me I can't at the moment think of how it (the alternator) attaches on the bottom. If I remember correctly, it uses the same bracket as the power steering, correct?

Click the image to view it full-size. You can see that it does use the power steering bracket to mount the lower part of the alternator. ;)

Is it the PS bracket or the AIR bracket? I think on mine it's the AIR one. But there's that brace from the bolt on the fender side of the alternator...

Who you talkin' to Rich - me or Colin? :L

If you click my image and view it full-screen, you can see the lower bolt where it attaches to the power steering bracket just below. The upper brqcket is the one I got from MAD a long time ago; that is the air pump replacement bracket for when one removes the A.I.R. system. ;)

Ya lost me on that one Jon. :confused

Oh! I see!! MY "Brain Drain" brand... ;LOL

Ok, OK. Yeah. On the bottom it's the PS bracket, on the top the AIR one (I still have the AIR, though with no cat on right now it's dead-ending). I've got those in place and tight; however, without the rear bracket to the manifold I can wiggle the alternator just a hair.

Of course, I haven't fully tightened down the AIR bracket that goes to the top of the manifold; that might help a bit.
