My Hud went out 2 days ago and the motor works and when I turn the key to on position
without starting it the light comes on for 1 second then goes out.
Could it be the dimmer switch or the entire unit?
I know it would not be to hard to put the dimmer switch in but I ave the chance to get a complete
HUD from a wrecked corvette that was rear ended and HUD has a warrenty.
If I have to put in an entire unit dows the whole dash have to come apart or just where the dimmer switch is.
Thank you.
Duke

I think your HUD is toast. Yes, you have to pull the dash to replace. Not hard. If you need guidance let us know.

Thank you

Dadaroo thank you. I paid 300 for one out of a c5 with low miles for 300.
Was having one put in from a friend who works on Corvettes.
How many hours do you think it wlll take?:w

HUD 2003 Corvette C5

I would plan on about 6 hours since it is your first time. Here is a link on how to remove the dash. Make sure you bag and tag the various fasteners since many are different.

Dadaroo thank you for the great advice.
I found a HUD out of a 2003 c5 that was rear ended and totaled.
I paid 200 for the entire unit including the dimmer switch.
It took me a little over 10 hours since this is the 1st time I ever pulled apart a dash.
I videotaped everything so I knew where all would go back.
Man this is sure different than my 66 STINGRAY.
BUt I did save a lot of money doing it myself and it works awesome.
Thank again
Duke Of Earl

That's great and thanks for posting your results so others can see it can be done.

Maybe posting the video on Vettetube would allow others to learn from your experience. :thumb

Dadaroo thank you it was not all that bad.
I took the video but marked everything with tape to know where everything went.
My only problem I broke a peice of plastick on the glove box but I used a heavy duty glue and pot a metal brace on it. Saved me the money on a new glove box.
