Please help......I have a '94 LT1 coupe. There is no heat, or hot air for the defroster....the fans blow, and the air is directed to the correct vents but just cool air. Thermostat is good, and from what I have read and checked, the heater core is good. Both hoses to and from are hot, there is no leaking inside or smell of coolant either inside or out. SO there isn't a clog or leak. With that said, I have read from others that they had similar conditions and replaced a "heater control valve" and once done it fixed the problem. One said they had it done at a dealer for $505, but a few others said the part was $110 and did it themselves in 10 minutes. I would love to be able to do this but do not know where it is. Any help???

I'm going to try to attach a pic here. Mine was just stuck, and once I operated it by hand it started working on it's own.

BTW, That's not my engine compartment! I just snagged this from another forum. :D

No Heat

Do you have 'manual' or 'electronic automatic' temperature control?

If it's 'manual', there is a wire adjuster (like a lawn mower throttle control) running from the heater control panel to the 'door' that causes air to flow through or bypass the heater core.

The wire adjuster attaches to the body of the control panel differently from the description in the service manual and is very subject to breakage. Mine broke. So when I tried to adjust the temperature, the 'base' point of the wire sheath moved rather than the interior wire moving to cause the door to open or close.

I had to remove the heater control to find this. 1) take off the console door 2) remove the console cover around the shifter (there's a hidden screw under the cup holder in addition to the ones at the front of the console glove box 3) put the car in reverse to slide the console cover out 4) remove the center A/C vent 5) remove the bezel around the heater control 6) pull the heater control out to access the temp control wire on the passenger side rear.

If you search for 'heater' 'temp' etc. with the search tab above, there's a wealth of information and more detail about taking the console and dash apart. My heater control now has a 're-engineered' attachment. You may need a similar repair.

If you have an 'automatic' temperature control, the problem is likely a stuck door or bad actuator (door motor). They're up under the passenger side dash. Be sure to disconnect the air bags (or remove the negative battery terminal) and wait 10 minutes before poking around under the dash.

This is really windy, hope it helps. Do lots of searches and you'll find the solution.

My bet is on the 'door'

I'm having the same no heat problem with my 1990 L98 roadster. I'd appreciate any help as well....
