HELLO FROM COLORADO..FIRST C5 VETTE

Yeah, i like it...MOST....days, i work for a large county on the outskirts of denver, and you?

Thanks, stopped by and talked to a friend of mine at a chevy dealership and he printed me out the build sheet and history, guess this guy (previous owner) was really anal, had alot of things replaced, ( i think GM just gave in on some rather than it really being bad) this guy lived in beverly hills so there you go. Now i just need to find out why i have no cruise control working and the battery keeps running down if you leave the car doors open or move the seats without it running. The dealer (i did not buy from this one and they could have lied and said i need a new battery to make some $ but they didn't) told me that the battery was fine, it just needed a recharge, we will see. It had been sitting alot while waiting to be transported from Chicago to Denver. Any thoughts?

Thanks, and i was hoping it was a good price, I used Edmunds (tmv) and Kelley blue book, it does have a few nicks on it (under the driver's door, a few right on the front bumper on one small one on the passenger door), but that will happen i guess as they age.

I had a 2002 coupe (my first vette). Very reliable. There are days when I think I should have kept it. Anyway, I bought it to drive and enjoy so I never babied it as such. But I always kept it clean, polished and waxed. However, it did seem prone to nicks and dings on the rocker panels beneath the doors. And it was black so they tended to be more obvious. I'm curious to see how the C6 stacks up in this regard. I've stacked the deck a bit though. Found some subtle unobtrusive splash guards (not mud flaps :ugh ) at Mid-America corvette for $50, and, so far, they seem to be minimizing damage, as well as keeping road tar at bay. They resemble the slightly flared fender/guard on the Z06. No drilling required; they mount using the existing fender tabs. Looks like they have "subtle" ones for the C6, but not for the C5 :cry .

Hey HORSESCO,

I am in the Army in Iraq, but I am stationed at FT Carson in the Springs. This is my 2nd time being staioned there mainly because I love it. My wife's old boss lived off of Palmer Divide/County Line Road in Monument. Yeah I know the gas prices are bad but if you take 83 it is a beautiful and fun drive. Welcome, Congrats, and God Bless

Put it on a trickle charger and see if that helps- you never know. If it is the original battery, it is probably way past due to give out. They often don't last as long as they should.

I don't think the cruise control issue is going to be the battery, though. We have a fantastic technical wizard here named c4c5Specialist. If you start a thread over in C5 Technical, he may be able to point you in the right direction to diagnose the cruise issue.

If you think that flattery will allow you to skip that cup of coffee I owe you and go straight for breakfast in bed, I have to tell you it's working. ;)

Hey, I resemble that remark. :L

yeah, sorry i did not mean I thought the cruise issue was related to the battery i know its not, will most likely end up taking it in since i know its not a fuse at this point. i have a 1 yr (supposedly all inclusive) warranty that came with it, so we will see, if that is the case it will cost me nothing. And no, this was the 2nd battery, from the history of service it shows the car had it replaced in july 2004. thanks

The battery discussion brings up the problem most Vette's have or have had. The factory battery starts to leak after a year or two and eats the battery tray and continues down to the main computers (big$$$$). Have the dealer check the condition of the tray and under it in case it was replaced and covers any problems. After you get an OK replace it with a "GEL CELL" type battery and no more problems.....

:) :beer :w Don't forget to wave........

I noticed no one answered your run-flat question...

If the tires are Goodyears the sidewall will say EMT (extended mobility tire). Those are the run flats. I don't know what other manufacturers call their run flats. If not a Goodyear you may want to access TireRack.com and look up your tire's description.

Have fun with your vette and don't forget to wave.

thanks, yeah they are the goodyear eagle? F1 does that help any?

That's not quite enough info. Goodyear makes a number of Eagle F1 tires, some of which are EMT and some of which are not.

There's the Eagle F1 GS-D3, and then that same tire but with EMT ...
then there's the F1 Supercar, and that also had an EMT version. There's the F1 GS, and then the F1 GS EMT :W (and others, but you get the point).

You should find some more info written on the tires. I think this means another trip to the garage- let us know what you find.
