Help......bad DRL wire?

My passenger side DRL is not working. I replaced the bulb and still have the same problem. Does anyone know the wire that should get hot when the DRL's are on? Or a wiring diagram of the DRL system.

I'm basing this off the '04 manual but you should have a brown wire that brings power in with a black wire that provides the ground.
Use a voltmeter on the working side and check the voltage in, check to make sure you have a ground on the non working side. This can get confusing as the system is controlled by the light sensore and goes thru relays, etc....let me know what you come up with and I will try and help as much as possible.

OK, I removed both light sockets and have 14.7 volts on the working DRL and 0.00 volts on the other. The turn signals work OK as well as the parking lamps on both lights. It seems as the wire must be OK, yet something is not turning on that DRL

In a nutshell, heres what the '04 manual says......
APPROACH fuse 2 underhood sends power to the coil and switch side of the DRL relays 38 (R) and 40 (L). The light sensor sends a signal to the Body Control Module (BCM) and when it is daylight the ground is supplied to the coil side of each relay. Once that happens you will have power from each relay to the lamps.
You might try swapping these two relays, even tapping them sometimes makes them work, the book says the Inst Panel Fuse Block is in the R/H footwell behind the carpet. The lid should have the markings for the two relays. It might be advisable to pull fuse 2 prior to removing the relays so that no power exists at the relays or just disconnect the battery. I am new to the C5's and still learning the in and outs of the systems. I don't want ya getting shocked or shorting something out!

I'm with you on the relays 38 and 40 sending power to the lamps. My question now is how do you change those relays? I am afraid to give them a "good" tug. Are they plug-in or something else? I'm thinking you have to remove the whole fuse panel to get to the back of the relays to remove them.:confused

The relays just pop out, no getting to the back side. The manual shows a puller to grab them and yank 'em out but you should be able to get a hold of them and remove them. The only thing on the backside are the wires that go into the relay receptacle.

Well, I'm not sure what the problem was but when I swapped the two relays the DRL's started working. So all is well. Thank you so much for your info.......if your in the NY area I owe you a beer.

Thats the way it goes..........you don't know how many times I have done this on an airplane electrical system.
Sometimes it's just a loose contact or sticking relay. Thats why I mentioned just tapping it with a screwdriver. Rarely do they go bad. Taking them out and putting them back can clean off the pins and everything is cool! Just make sure when doing this you use like P/N relays, don't go mixing just fro troubleshooting.
