My vette was repainted several years ago, and it wasn't the best job.

Therefore, you can see swirl marks, overspray, underspray, runs...
Well, just not good. Repainting is not an option. It does look good...from about 10 feet away.

I understand the over/under spray and runs are there for good, but from reading some old posts, I may be able to get rid of the swirl marks, and bring a glass-like shine to my vette.

So, the idea is to get the vette completely buffed, (removing obvious swirl marks) then start the Zaino process, Hopefully returning the glossy shine of my Corvette.

Does this sound like a good plan? Is there a better way?

If repainting is not an option then, yes. Go with the buffing.

If your car has a clearcoat on it, the person buffing the car should be "really" careful depending how thick the clearcoat level is.

You still need to be careful with a non-clearcoat but you can be a little more "aggressive" removing the imperfections.

Clear Coated? I see a Red Corvette in your signature, is that yours? Is the painter still in business? Are you able to find out his painting process and film thickness? That'll help greatly for trouble shooting your paint

Therefore, you can see swirl marks,
By swirl marks are you meaning some light surface scratches or buffing marks from a rotary buffer?

overspray,
This should be fairly easily dealt with by claying the area. Should!

underspray,
I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Not too big of a deal. Could be dealt with by someone with some experience with wetsanding.

Depending on the severity the buffing can be taken care of in a few different ways. I'd like to know just what type of swirls you're meaning. Check out this http://www.thedetailingbible.com/329605.html] Swirl Elimination Guide[/url] and tell me which kind you're seeing. If you'd like to send me pix of you drip marks or your over/under spray you can send them to DetailingDude@TheDetailingBible.com

I do now know if there is any clearcoat on it. I purchased the car from a guy, who got it from a guy, who....etc.... Not even from this part of the state.

I would say the swirl marks are from a rotary buffer.

When I said underspray, I mean they didn't cover the area with enought paint!
You can see the undercoating.

I am going to look into getting it completely buffed.
After that, I will do the complete Zaino process. Claybar, etc...

I will wash the vette this weekend and get some good close up pics that I can send you, detailing dude.

Thanks
